The Wes Anderson x H&M Christmas Ad is the Stuff of Dreams

Every other department store/clothing franchise may as well just give up now, because nothing will top H&M's collaboration with Wes Anderson. Ever.

The festive ad, called 'Come Together', stars Adrien Brody (who has previously featured in three of Anderson's films: The Darjeeling LimitedFantastic Mr Fox and The Grand Budapest Hotel) as the train conductor tasked with informing his passengers that a terrible snowstorm will delay their Christmas Day journey nearly 12 hours. Not to be disheartened by the hold-up, he and his assistant (Sing director Garth Jennings, FYI) show what Christmas is really about and pull off a makeshift celebration, complete with all the trimmings.

It is quintessentially Anderson, down to the incredibly satisfying central shot framing, juxtaposition of an initial cynicism with an overriding warmth, and, of course, impeccable styling.

The short film, which was released yesterday, already has more than two million views on YouTube, and fans were quick to draw similarities with the quirky locomotive set of The Darjeeling Limited, and are pleading with the almighty Wes to extend it into a whole film (a Christmas film I would definitely be on board with).
